Lisa & Geoff :: {Vintage Charm on a Winter’s Day}

It may technically be spring time, but the wonderful wintery charm of Lisa & Geoff’s vintage inspired wedding is something that must be shared! Photographed by ShutterBrugs Photography, this breath taking wedding included classically beautiful floral elements and fantastic vintage touches that really brought their romantic, vintage charm theme to life!

The couple’s wedding colours included a combination of soft blush, whites & ivories, with hints of pink and navy blue (a fantastic colour palette for a winter wedding!). Keeping with the bride & groom’s colour scheme and theme, I decided to create luxurious florals that included a soft colour combination and vintage inspired flowers, including; baby’s breath, hydrangea, open roses, freesias, French tulips, & of course peonies. Lisa’s only request was to have a fabulous bouquet filled with delicate peonies (and WOW! What a beauty it turned out to be!)

The bridesmaid bouquets featured a splash of pink which really complimented their navy blue dresses & the men wore a soft peony boutonniere.

Lisa and Geoff’s wedding took place at the Pillar & Post in Niagara-on-the-Lake, with the ceremony being held in the beautiful upstairs Gallery and the reception in the Upper Canada room. The Pillar & Post is a great venue when you’re really looking for that vintage charm with a touch of rustic character (It’s so cozy & welcoming, the Fleurish team just loves it there!). I really wanted to create florals that would complement the aged features of the venue; for the ceremony, buckets of baby’s breath & cylinder vases filled with water, floating candles & rose petals decorated the aisle, leading guests to their seats; while, mounds of florals placed on galvanized containers framed the loving couple as they exchanged their vows. The vintage mix of elegant blooms continued into the reception where gorgeous mounds of flowers rested on footed mercury glass bowls & added such a wonderful soft, vintage charm to the room that was adorned with gold chivari chairs, mason jars filled with candles and guest tables that were draped with lace table covers. The head table included matching chivari chairs and lace covers supplied by Simply Beautiful Décor, as well as, low matching foliages in hurricane mercury glass vases and large floral arrangements flanking the tables.

I just love this! Nothing says “winter wedding” better then a bride & her bridesmaids keeping their feet warm in their winter boots while taking photos!

Another great thing about being a part of Lisa & Geoff’s wedding, is that Lisa’s mother used to be a florist, so flowers are so near and dear to their hearts, and so getting rave reviews from the family was such an amazing compliment to me, and it’s one of those moments as a florist where you know that you’ve made a couple happy on such an important day of their life together, and that will always bring a smile to my face! Congratulations to Lisa & Geoff!
