If you’ve been following Fleurish Design Studio, you know that I am a colour fanatic! And colour plays a huge role in what I do as a designer. When you’re trying to decide on a style or theme, the idea of colour can seem super overwhelming, especially when you are the soon-to-be bride and groom trying to organize every detail (big and small) for your special day! But, always remember, your wedding day is a reflection of you and your love- don’t be scared to have fun with colour and let it tell your guests who you are as a couple! Take a look at these amazing photographs of Andrea & Darren Free’s wedding taken by Stephen Franklin Photography. Andrea and Darren were a fun loving couple and their flowers added that perfect pop of colour to their big day!
Andrea & Darren knew that they wanted colour to play an important part in their wedding day, from the very top of their wedding cake to the vibrant shoes on their feet (that’s right…from top to bottom!).
The couple was inspired by the simple approach of modern elegance, combining contemporary elements like white glass and hints of white flowers with pops of brilliant purples, magenta pink and teal. They really wanted to use fabulous, bright tones to express their style; something fun, elegant and summery.
Andrea & Darren’s ceremony took place in Stoney Creek at Liuna Gardens, where guests enjoyed a lakeside ceremony surround by beautiful scenery accented with stunning aisle arrangements that gently hung on shepherd’s hooks and two striking floral arrangements that flanked the bride & groom as they exchanged vows in front of family and friends.
The bride and her bridesmaids carried a trendy mix of dahlias, hydrangea, anemone, freesia, roses, and of course the bride’s favorite, purple Vanda orchids, as well as, phalaenopsis orchids. The modern mixture of rich purples, whites and touches of magenta just added the perfect pop of colour to accent the bridal party’s teal dresses. Doesn’t it look stunning!?
The men of course had to sport just as much fashionable colour as the ladies, so their classic suits were accented with purple ties and phalenopsis orchid boutonnières.
The colourful celebration continued into the reception which took place at John Michael’s Banquet Hall, in Thorold. The classic look of the black & white décor was paired with the same stunningly bold tones of the ceremony. Guests entered a room where low, round, white glass bowls filled with a modern mix of blooms dressed their tables adding that exciting splash of colour Andrea & Darren wanted. The head table was surrounded by a dazzling ambiance of purple back lighting and touches of sparkle and shine perfect for such a fantastic couple.
Congratulations to Andrea & Darren, it was so wonderful to be a part of your special day!
